Brentford will assess Kamo Mokotjo’s fitness before deciding whether to offer him a short contract extension to complete the season.
The South African midfielder’s current deal expires on June 30 and he has been out of action since January, having been sidelined by injury prior to matches being suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Bees have not offered him a longer-term contract as they have plenty of midfield options.
Josh Dasilva thrived in Mokotjo absence as the team cemented their play-off challenge.
The Bees also signed promising youngster Shandon Baptiste from Oxford United in January and are expected to look for an experienced central midfielder this summer.
Striker Niko Karelis, who has been out since October with a serious knee injury, is also out of contract at the end of this month and is expected to be released.
The Championship season is scheduled to restart on the weekend of June 20, with Brentford due to play away to west London rivals Fulham.
