Brentford manager Mark Warburton said he was frustrated after his side’s 2-2 draw at MK Dons.
The Bees, already promoted to the Championship and 2-0 up at Stadium MK, were punished by Izale McLeod’s stoppage-time equaliser after Stephen Gleeson had converted a contentious penalty late on.
Warburton said: “This is a difficult time of the year. We’ve achieved our goal but as professionals they’ve got to do better in the last 15 minutes.
“The frustration is that we never looked threatened and dropped two points. The positive is we dominated the game, but we conceded two late goals and have got to do better. We paid the price and we’ve got to learn from that.”
The Dons were awarded a spot-kick when David Button was deemed to have brought down McLeod in the box but it appeared the Bees keeper won the ball before contact was made.
“We’ve looked at it and it’s 50-50. We think he gets the ball then the man, but its a tough call,” Warburton said.
“They’re professionals and we’ve set records to break. The target was 99 points but now it’s 97 and they’ve got to be professional.”
