Hogan omission ‘in club’s interests’ – Bees boss
Brentford boss Dean Smith said he left out Scott Hogan against Newcastle because he felt it was in the club’s best interests.
West Ham have had offers for the Bees striker rejected, while Watford have also expressed an interest.
Hogan was named among the substitutes at Griffin Park, where Brentford lost 2-1.
“I made a decision on Thursday not to play Scott and I felt that Romaine Sawyers and Lasse Vibe did well last week,” Smith said.
“It is very difficult for him and I decided not to start him in the long-term interests of the football club.
“The long-term interests of the club always have to be at the forefront of my mind.
“I didn’t think it was right to start him and Scott didn’t either.”

Newcastle’s shaky defence was tailor made for Hogan and it is my opinion that we would certainly have won had he played. Perhaps Smith could explain why it is in the club’s best interest to chance dropping three points, given we are, by no means, out of danger from relegation and as far as I know, have not confirmed his transfer, which, would of course ,justify him being left out. Once again, as in most of Smith’s tenure, we hear excuses for a loss.

If Smith was not going to play Hogan , Why was he on the Bench ?
