Boss challenges Brentford to stay top
Brentford manager Mark Warburton has challenged his players to stay top of League One.
The Bees moved to the summit for the first time this season with a 3-1 win over MK Dons – their 11th victory in 12 league games.
And Warburton said: “We’ve gone top of the league – now the key is to stay there.
“It’s about how you perceive it now, we’ve got to learn from our mistakes and push on.
“We don’t want to worry about other teams. We’ll worry about what we do, recognise what we do well and keep on doing it.
“But it is testament to the players and their character that we are heading into the new year top of the league.”
Warburton took over from Uwe Rosler earlier this month and the latest win at Griffin Park was his fourth in four games as new boss.
But he added: “It’s only four games – it’s early days yet. We’ve got some fantastic players and I’ve made clear my belief in them.
“Like any job, when you enjoy it you do it with a smile on your face. Right now I want our attacking players to enjoy attacking and our defenders to relish defending.
“But I want us to enjoy winning above all – and then learn from anything else.”
