Blow for Brentford as Craig appeal fails
Brentford have been dealt a major blow after their appeal against Tony Craig’s sending-off against Sheffield United was rejected.
It means the former Millwall defender must serve a three-match ban so will miss the Bees’ final two matches of the regular season as they chase automatic promotion.
And it means that if they end up in the play-offs, Craig will sit out the first leg of the semi-final.
Craig was controversially given his marching orders during Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane following an off-the-ball incident.
Brentford submitted video evidence in support of their appeal and were confident the red card would be rescinded.
Instead, the Football Association deemed that the dismissal for violent conduct should be upheld.
