Boreham Wood 0 Brentford 2
First-half goals from Clayton Donaldson and Harry Forrester took Brentford safely into the second round of the FA Cup.
Striker Donaldson settled their nerves by cutting inside and firing into the bottom corner from near the edge of the penalty area on the quarter-hour mark.
And the Bees doubled their lead when a fine move involving Jonathan Douglas and Donaldson ended with Paul Hayes setting up Forrester, who finished from 10 yards.
Non-League Boreham Wood never looked recovering and only a string of fines saves from keeper James Russell saved from a thrashing.
Brentford controlled the second half and Saunders shot narrowly wide before Adam Forshaw missed a late chance to make it three.
Brentford: Lee; O’Connor, Legge (Dean 84), Craig, Bidwell; Forshaw, Douglas, Adeyemi, Forrester (Dallas 75); Hayes (Saunders 81), Donaldson.
Subs not used: Moore, Barron, Diagouraga, German.
