Walsall 2 Brentford 2
Clayton Donaldson’s last-gasp equaliser completed a brilliant late comeback by Brentford, who scored twice in the final four minutes to rescue a point.
They conceded twice in as many minutes in the first half and looked to be heading to their first league defeat of the season.
But Jonathan Douglas fired into the top corner before Donaldson bundled the ball in from close range to leave Walsall stunned.
The Saddlers went ahead when Jamie Paterson slotted home following good work from Ashley Hemmings, and a defensive mix-up led to George Bowerman doubling the lead.
Bees keeper Simon Moore had earlier pushed a shot from Flo Cuvelier onto the bar, while Douglas and Donaldson both went close for Brentford before Uwe Rosler’s side suddenly found themselves two goals down.
But they were much improved in the second half and Farid El Aalagui’s effort hit the bar as the visitors piled on the pressure.
And after Douglas’ great strike, Brentford kept pressing and were rewarded with Donaldson’s fourth goal of the season.
