Bees slump to defeat at Stevenage
Stevenage 1 Brentford 0
Brentford missed the chance to move within a point of the top of League One and instead handed Stevenage a first win in six matches.
They were far short of their best again and Marcus Haber out-muscled Harlee Dean to slot home a deserved winner with 15 minutes remaining.
Bees boss Uwe Rosler criticised his team after their performance at Crawley a week ago and they were just as poor in the first half against Boro.
Stevenage twice hit the woodwork, with former Brentford man Gavin Mahon’s header hitting the post after five minutes and Haber’s effort rebounding off the crossbar 12 minutes later.
And they could have been three goals up at the break but for keeper Simon Moore’s superb save to deny Haber at the far post.
Brentford improved in the second half but still struggled to make chances and Haber’s shot underneath Moore proved decisive.
