Brentford are set to sign St Etienne striker Neal Maupay in a £1.6m deal.
The 20-year-old will undergo a medical and finalise personal terms before completing the move.
Maupay is a France Under-21 international who has made only 15 Ligue 1 appearances for St Etienne, scoring once.
The former Nice trainee spent the first half of last season on loan at Stade Brest but made only one substitute appearance.
The Bees, who sold Scott Hogan to Aston Villa in January and sold Philipp Hofmann earlier this summer, want to bring in two strikers and are also in talks to sign Exeter’s Ollie Watkins.
They are also prepared to listen to offers for Lasse Vibe, who recently entered the final year of his contract.
