Bees to release midfielder Bean

Brentford have confirmed that they are releasing Marcus Bean.

The former QPR midfielder has been told he will not be offered a new contract when his current deal expires at the end of next month.

Bean, 27, told West London Sport in March that he wanted to stay at the club but was resigned to being shown the door.

Karleigh Osborne and Sam Wood, whose contracts are also about to expire, are leaving Griffin Park too.

Brentford failed to agree new terms with defender Osborne, who has been watched by several Championship clubs, and they accepted some time ago that he would be moving on at the end of the season.

Bean was born in Hammersmith and progressed through the ranks at QPR, making 67 first-team appearances before joining Blackpool in 2006.

He returned to west London two years later, joining the Bees on a free transfer.
