Brentford 5 Crewe 0
In-form Brentford produced a blistering performance to register their fifth consecutive league win.
After taking the lead through Marcello Trotta shortly before half-time, the Bees scored three goals in 17 minutes to put the game beyond struggling Crewe.
Adam Forshaw broke the defensive line and slotted past the keeper just seconds into the second half before George Saville curled home a third from distance.
Clayton Donaldson then bagged a brace to make it 5-0 with just over an hour played, capitalising on a defensive mix-up for his first and then firing low and hard into the far corner for his second.
Brentford had total control of the game from start to finish and created a wealth of excellent chances.
On-loan Fulham striker Trotta missed a glorious opportunity to put them ahead early on, blazing high over the bar whilst unmarked inside the area.
But his superb header – a bullet from just inside the area – gave his side a deserved lead on 43 minutes.
Forshaw, returning to the starting line-up along with Harlee Dean, weaved his way past Crewe defenders to add the second from close range.
But the hosts suffered a blow when on-loan Cardiff City winger Kadeem Harris was substituted early in the second half with what appeared to be a knock and was replaced by Will Grigg.
Grigg had arrived at Griffin Park straight from a flight from Turkey, where he was on the bench for Northern Ireland on Friday night, and he set up Chelsea loanee Saville to brilliantly find the corner from the edge of the box.
Donaldson then had a simple tap-in of his own when Crewe failed to catch him offside on 63 minutes and the forward, who is soon to be offered new contract, added his ninth league goal of the season with a neat finish from distance.
