Jensen and Dasilva to miss Arsenal game but Toney is fit

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has confirmed Mathias Jensen and Josh Dasliva will miss the club’s Premier League debut clash against Arsenal on Friday.

Denmark midfielder Jensen is still sidelined with the badly gashed foot he sustained in the European Championship semi-final, with Dasilva to sit out the match against his former club due to a hip problem.

“Josh is a longer-term issue and not specific date for a return. Mathias hasn’t played any games in the pre-season so he won’t be available either,” Frank said.

However, Frank confirmed talismanic striker Ivan Toney will definitely start against the Gunners after missing the friendly victory over Valencia last week with a neck injury.

The Dane also expects the former Northampton and Peterborough forward to take the top flight by storm.

Toney scored 33 goals last season – 11 of which were from the penalty spot – and Frank believes there is no better spot-kick player in the world.

“He has a top mentality and a big belief in himself and as a player, especially an offensive player, you need to have that massive confidence,” he said.

“But with his finishing ability, link-up play, timing in the box and awareness I am sure he will score goals in the Premier League.

“Last year I thought he was the best penalty taker in the world in the Championship and I still think he will be the best penalty taker in the world in the Premier League.”
