Bees were determined to make amends – Smith
Brentford boss Dean Smith was pleased to see his side return to winning ways and said they were determined to atone for last weekend’s hammering at Norwich.
The Bees, beaten in their previous four matches – and 5-0 at Norwich last time out – won 2-1 against Burton in a tense game at Griffin Park.
“It’s nice to come away with the three points and I thought it was a fair result,” Smith said.
“There was a determination from the players to right what went wrong last week and I thought they did that today.
“It’s nice to send the supporters home with smiles on their faces having seen the team win.
“Our record here was very good but things have gone against us here, so it was nice to get the win.”
Scott Hogan scored both the Bees’ goals, taking his tally for the season to 13.
The striker opened the scoring with a wonderful first-time finish after being found by Romaine Sawyers and restored his team’s lead in the second half after Jamie Ward had equalised.
“He’s a big player for us but he’ll be the first to admit he needs the supply,” Smith said.
“I thought the pass by Romaine Sawyers for the first goal was fantastic.”
