Bees crush Forest to ease relegation fears
Nottingham Forest 0 Brentford 3
Brentford ended their miserable run – and virtually ended their relegation fears – with a fabulous victory at the City Ground.
Lasse Vibe, Nico Yennaris and Sergi Canos scored second-half goals to see off Nottingham Forest, who had Eric Lichaj sent off.
After four consecutive defeats saw them slip alarmingly down the Championship table, Dean Smith’s team were in desperate need of a win.
And they made the crucial breakthrough four minutes into the second half when Vibe, on as a substitute, pounced to score after a mix-up between Kelvin Wilson and Forest keeper Dorus De Vries.
Yennaris smashed home from Jake Bidwell’s corner and worse followed for Forest when Lichaj was dismissed on 77 minutes for a second bookable offence.
Canos sealed the Bees’ victory with a lovely first-time strike with three minutes remaining.
The win moved Brentford nine points clear of the drop zone.
