Manager Mark Warburton insists he is not concerned by Brentford’s third straight defeat despite their FA Cup exit against Brighton.
The Bees conceded two late goals to lose 2-0, adding to recent league losses to Ipswich and Wolves.
“It’s disappointing and we have to learn from it – again,” Warburton said.
“But it’s not about it being a third defeat in row. If we lose a game and are very poor, are wasteful in possession and don’t do what we normally do well, then we have a real issue and a concern.
“We were excellent in the first half and started hard and fast in the second, but missed chance after chance, and then we got slack at the back and took liberties.
“The stats are positive, even more in favour of us than in the Wolves game, but the fact is we lost 2-0 and we have to recognise that and move forward.
“Stats don’t win games. We have to be more clinical and put the ball in the back of the net, and take care in front of our own goal.”
Warburton made five changes from the side that lost 2-1 at Molineux, with first-team regulars David Button, Jonathan Douglas and Alex Pritchard not in the squad.
He explained: “I’ve got to give pitch time to players. I don’t want to come out of this game losing and people saying ‘he made five changes’.
“We’ve brought in quality players like Toumani Diagouraga, Jon Toral, James Tarkowski and Tommy Smith. We played a very strong team and it showed in the performance.”
