Brentford manager Uwe Rosler says there is no prospect of him being given extra money to spend when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Bees have been hampered by injury problems in defence this season and have relied on a number of loan signings.
That will leave Rosler with little room to manoeuvre during the second half of the campaign, when his side will be hoping to challenge for a play-off place.
“I have the same budget that the last two Brentford managers have had,” Rosler told West London Sport.
“It’s not true that I have more money available. And with the players we’ve had to bring in on loan because of injuries, you can imagine how our budget looks at the moment.”
Saturday’s 2-1 win at Rochdale took Brentford up to seventh in League One – two points behind sixth-paced Notts County.
