Brentford boss Mark Warburton will continue talks with Cardiff over extending Kadeem Harris’ loan deal despite the winger’s injury.
Harris, 20, could be out for over a month with a hamstring problem he picked up in the recent win at Preston.
The youngster’s current loan expires on 5 January but he remains keen to continue his successful spell at Griffin Park.
Warburton said: “We’ll look to work with Cardiff over extending his loan.
“It’s important to commit properly to the player. We want him here so we will liaise with Cardiff and hopefully he will stay on board with us.
“He could be out for four weeks or more. He’s a powerful athlete, but everyone’s body is different – it might be quicker or it might take longer.
“We have a good relationship with the Cardiff medical team, we are on the phone with them constantly, and we are going to maintain dialogue.
“He is being monitored – the medical team are on top of everything. Now it’s just a case of rehab and then getting him back out on the pitch.”
