Brentford boss Dean Smith praised his players after their derby victory over QPR.
The 2-1 win at Griffin Park moved the Bees up to eighth place, just one point behind sixth-placed Millwall with two matches remaining.
Smith said: “In the first half we were excellent. I didn’t think we were as good in the second half but I’m pleased for the players.
“They deserve to be where they are in the table, pushing with two games to go. There’s a great togetherness.
“We’re still not in the play-off places but you want to be there after the final game of the season.”
Smith also backed the decision not to send off QPR keeper Matt Ingram for bringing down Ollie Watkins late in the first half.
Ingram was given a yellow card and then saved the resulting penalty from Watkins, but Smith felt Rangers man made a genuine attempt to win the ball.
“By the letter of the law the referee has got it correct,” Smith said.
“If you make a genuine attempt to get the ball then it’s a yellow card and a penalty.”
