Misery for Dean as Bees draw

Tranmere 2 Brentford 2

A Harlee Dean own goal denied Brentford victory at Prenton Park and extended their poor recent run.

The Bees found themselves behind when Martin Devaney blasted home from Jose Baxter’s cross.

But they battled back, equalising when Gary Alexander fired in after Rovers failed to clear Clayton Donaldson’s cross, and then going ahead after Alexander set up Donaldson, who finished well.

However, Tranmere were handed a lifeline when Dean deflected Danny Holmes’s cross past keeper Richard Lee and into his own net.

It was a miserable afternoon for the on-loan Southampton centre-back, who also missed three chances at the other end.

Dean went close with two other headers before being denied a winning goal by Ash Taylor’s goal-line block.
