Barbet plays in B-team friendly against Liverpool

Yoann Barbet returned to action as Brentford played Liverpool in a B-team friendly on Thursday evening.

Barbet, who has been out with an ankle injury, played the full 90 minutes at Griffin Park, where Herson Rodrigues Alves and Danny Paris scored for the home side in a 2-2 draw before Brentford won on penatlties.

Alves netted 10 minutes before half-time when he applied the finish after being found by Zain Westbrooke’s ball over the top.

A mistake by Liverpool keeper Caoimwin Kelleher allowed the Bees to make it 2-0 early in the second half.

Kelleher mis-controlled a back-pass and was then unable to retrieve the ball, and Parish – with his first touch after coming on as a substitute – took advantage.

Bees keeper Jack Bonham then produced saves to twice deny Yan Dhanda.

Bonham was unable to deny substitute Ben Woodburn, who scored two late goals to haul the visitors level.

But Bonham did save penalties from Corey Whelan and Joe Maguire in the shoot-out, which Brentford won 5-4.
