Ice cool Adam Forshaw said he had no jitters before slotting home the winning penalty in the shoot-out which sent Brentford to the League One play-off final at Wembley.
The former Everton midfielder converted the crucial spot-kick as Bees edged out Swindon 5-4, following a breathless 3-3 draw after extra-time.
Forshaw said: “I was tired but I didn’t have nerves whatsoever if I’m honest.
“I just had to stay focused and not let the scenario affect me, and take it like it was a penalty on the training ground.
“I’ve only ever took penalties in youth football so I’ve never had anything like this.”
Forshaw praised his Brentford team-mates and manager Uwe Rosler for keeping the faith after Swindon had snatched an equaliser 30 seconds from the end of normal time to deny the Bees victory.
He said: “Uwe just said ‘You’ve to keep believing’. He felt we were a lot fitter than them and I think we were.
“The sending-off [of Swindon’s ex-Brentford loanee Nathan Byrne] obviously helped but we just had to stay positive.
“It’s not even half the job done though – we’ve to go and finish it off now at Wembley.”
