Brentford are among clubs interested in Stevenage’s highly-rated defender Ben Wilmot.
The Bees are keen to sign a new centre-back this summer, when Andreas Bjelland’s contract at Griffin Park is due to expire.
They have watched Wilmot, 18, extensively but there is plenty of interest among other clubs, including Brighton.
Wilmot has not played for Stevenage since 10 March and the League Two club recently indicated that a deal to sell him was close.
That led to reports he was set for a £1.5m move to Watford, who subsequently insisted they had ended their interest in the player.
Wilmot broke into Stevenage’s first team this season and has made 15 appearances, with 10 of them coming in the league.

He’s not needed by us as Sorensen is more than capable of stepping up but thanks for the unneeded speculation
