Nottingham Forest hit the woodwork twice in the first half at the City Ground, where QPR have never won.

Ben Osbourne fired against the post and the visitors rode their luck again when Robert Tesche’s thumping effort from 30 yards out struck the bar.

Earlier, the impressive Alex Smithies produced a fine save to keep out a header from former QPR loanee Michael Mancienne.

Junior Hoilett has been Rangers’ best player so far and forced two good saves from Forest keeper Dorus de Vries, who also produced a good stop to deny Matt Phillips.

Sebastian Polter, who has scored four goals in his last five matches for the R’s, headed wide after being found by Massimo Luongo’s cross.

And in the final seconds of the half, Alejandro Faurlin’s free-kick was tipped on to the bar by De Vries.

QPR: Smithies; Perch. Onuoha, Hall, Konchesky; Luongo, Faurlin; Phillips, Hoilett, Fer; Polter.
