AVB denies Alex is close to joining QPR

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has denied reports his club are close to agreeing a deal with QPR for Alex.

The Brazilian defender was recently transfer-listed by the Blues and looks certain to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.

He is among a number of centre-backs being considered by QPR, but Villas-Boas played down suggestions that the player’s move to Loftus Road is imminent.

“There have been ongoing talks,” he said.

“Alex has generated interest from a lot of clubs. But an offer that is acceptable? Not yet.”
