Chelsea fans on Twitter hail Kenedy
Chelsea fans on Twitter have been full of praise for the performance of Brazilian teenager Kenedy in the 1-0 win over Norwich.
The 19-year-old was surprisingly selected ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back, with boss Jose Mourinho explaining it was to effectively play him as a winger if Norwich packed their defence.
And after a rare Chelsea clean sheet this season, Blues supporters were quick to praise the decision – and Kenedy’s mature display.
If Baba Rahman, 21, had half the confidence of Kenedy, 19, he’d be starting all our games as LB. #justsaying #CFC — J. K. Osei (@joseikofi) November 22, 2015
I liked the new roll of Kenedy #LB he did everything right both defending as well as attacking wise #ShouldHavePlayedHimEarlier #CFC

Mourinho was spot on playing kenedy as LB, although would love to see him play ahead #CFC — Neil Soans (@trueblue_neil) November 21, 2015
Great performances all round today but special mention for Kenedy. Played so well in an alien position to him,so energetic and positive #CFC

Kenedy was very impressive at left-back, his physicality helped his defensive duties and his pace saw us attack with menace. #CFC — Llion Carbis (@carbislli) November 21, 2015
How Kenedy didn’t get man of the match is criminal, he shut everyone who said he shouldn’t play at left back. Was superb. #CFC

However, some fans were less convinced by the performance, for much of the game, of Diego Costa. Although the Spain striker scored the winning goal, supporters had been heard jeering him for passing up scoring opportunities and going to ground.
Hopefully yesterday was Costa’s Drogba-esque epiphany with the fans letting him know we want more effort and less theatrics. #cfc — David Faulkner (@Fattyfaulkner) November 22, 2015
Yes #costa scored. But needs to do much better.Could hear the fans screaming when he stood still for the #hazard ball b4 the goal #cfc

COSTA NEEDS TO SPEND MORE TIME SHOOTING INSTEAD OF DIVING! — Jake (@Jacob_Angell97) November 21, 2015
Costa is terrible.. Sure he scored, but also missed some glaring chances #dropdeigo #CFC

While, despite scoring, Diego Costa seems lost. He needs reminding that he’s the lone striker and not yet another attacking mid. #CFC — Aharon (@aha_times) November 21, 2015

Kenedy did well but truth is he was never under any pressure (unlike against liverpool, palace, et al),but that is definitely the choice of the game from Mr Mouriho in playing him at left back. I hope he plays again against Tel aviv, Ramirez should come back into the side and Cahill to come back in with Zouma moving to the Right hand side.
The team needs to defend from up the field to limit the pressure of the opponents and to be afraid all the time.
