Fulham striker returns as Under-21s lose to Newcastle
Matt Smith returned from a two-month lay-off as the Fulham Under-21s lost 2-0 to Newcastle.
The striker, who injured his knee in a collision with keeper Marcus Bettinelli in August, got 60 minutes under his belt against the Magpies.
Nikolay Bodurov and George Williams played the whole match, which was settled by two goals in the final 10 minutes.
Gael Bigirimana put the Magpies ahead with a free-kick curled beyond Whites keeper Marek Rodak.
And on 87 minutes, Ivan Toney, who had missed two good chances in the opening minutes, sealed the win after a Newcastle counter-attack.
