QPR boss Ramsey backs Henry

Chris Ramsey has defended Karl Henry amid criticism from QPR fans.

Henry, who turns 33 next month, has struggled for form this season and was barracked by some of the home supporters during Saturday’s 4-3 win against Bolton at Loftus Road.

Having been out injured during pre-season, the midfielder has since been a fixture of head coach Ramsey’s side, playing in all but one of Rangers’ 10 Championship games this term.

“Karl missed a lot of pre-season and I think he’s done alright,” Ramsey said.

“He’s got competition now – a lot of competition in that area. You’ve got Ale Faurlin, Sandro and Michael Doughty.”

Ramsey has been keen to stick with Henry rather than recall Sandro, who came on as a substitute at the weekend.

The Brazilian did well during his cameo appearance and Ramsey, who has also come under fire from fans following an unconvincing start to the campaign, faces some important decisions after the international break.

“You want competition. If you’ve got that then you’ve got a chance and you hope that people will do enough to keep their place,” Ramsey added.
