Blackburn boss calls for change
Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer insists football must follow cricket and tennis by using goalline technology across the professional game in England, not just in the Premier League.
Blackburn were denied a late equaliser at Fulham despite a Grant Hanley shot appearing to cross the line before being cleared by Jamie O’Hara.
Bowyer said: “There is a huge amount of money spent and a huge amount at stake in the Championship, namely the prize of the Premier League.
“Hopefully today is a great example for the powers at be to go and do something for the good of the game.
“Cricket don’t have it in just one game or one country do they, tennis don’t just have it at Wimbledon do they? The powers at be need to make the game better.
“The amount of money and the amount that is at stake in the game, we must be able to do it all the way through (the Football League).”
The controversial incident came late on as part of a Blackburn onslaught, with Fode Koita hitting the post whilst a Ben Marshall header was brilliantly saved.
Blackburn trailed after first-half goals from Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele rewarded Fulham for dominating the first-half.
The visitors improved after the interval as a Jordan Rhodes penalty, after a needless foul from James Husband, set up a tense finale.
Fulham held on to claim a third successive win in all competitions.
