Italian club say Fulham want striker

Fulham have made an offer for Catania striker Maxi Lopez, according to the Italian club.

The Argentine, 27, was tipped to join AC Milan before they turned their attention to signing Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

That has opened the door to the several other clubs who have been showing an interest in Lopez, and Catania chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco says Fulham have tabled a bid. Fiorentina and Lazio have also been linked with the player.

“An offer has been received from Fulham and we are evaluating it. We are waiting to see what the Italian clubs do,” Lo Monaco was quoted as saying.

Lopez, who started his career with River Plate and had a two-year spell at Barcelona, would be able to play in England as he has an Italian passport.
