Chelsea fans on Twitter react to Djilobodji signing
Chelsea’s signing of Nantes defender Papy Djilobodji has not gone down too well with some Blues supporters on Twitter.
After the summer-long pursuit of John Stones failed, Djilobodji has been compared unfavourably by some to the Everton and England centre-back.
We have gone from wanting to sign.. Stones Garay Abdennour To signing.. Djilobodji Hector Whats going on at my Club? #CFC #DeadlineDay — Joshua Murphy (@Murphy90_) September 1, 2015
We really needed to shake up our defence and Stones would of been a starting 11 player. You know Djilobodji and Baba will not start #CFC

In all seriousness, I hope Djilobodji does well at Chelsea but I didn’t know who he was until yesterday, its a huge step down from Stones — Ed Stokes (@Original_ERS) September 1, 2015
There’s a big red PANIC button at Stamford Bridge which has been hit hard #DeadlineDay #Djilobodji #CFC

Nothing against Djilobodji, hope he’s the next Desailly. Want his time to be a success at #CFC The board are the ones to blame — The Bridge (@finest_london) September 1, 2015
But others were happier to give Djilobodji a chance before judging him, noting that Cesar Azpilicueta and Kurt Zouma were similarly unheralded when joining from Marseille and Saint-Etienne respectively.
How many of you even heard of Azpilicueta before we signed him? So shut your gobs and give Djilobodji a chance. #CFC

I hadn’t heard of Zouma or Azpilicueta before they came either tbh, and they turnt out alright. Give this Djilobodji matey a chance. — Joe (@JoeMourinho91) September 1, 2015
Djilobodji can’t be any worse than Cahill. That’s good enough for me.
