Brentford match off as pitch is relaid

Brentford’s home match with Birmingham City next Tuesday has been postponed to allow the troublesome Griffin Park pitch to be relaid.

Boss Marinus Dijkhuizen labelled the patchy playing surface “awful” after the club’s opening game with Ipswich on Saturday.

Work will now take place over the next two weeks to ensure the pitch is ready for the Reading game on Saturday 29 August.

The Birmingham match has been rescheduled for Tuesday 29 September.
