Fulham through after winning on penalties
Wolves 3 Fulham 3 (After extra time – Fulham won 5-3 on penalties)
Hugo Rodallega scored the winning penalty as Fulham prevailed in a shoot-out in the snow at Molinuex to secure an FA Cup fourth-round trip to Sunderland.
Ross McCormack equalised with a penalty in the final minute of extra time and his team scored all their spot-kicks in the resulting shoot-out, while Matt Doherty missed for Wolves.
Cauley Woodrow gave Fulham a first-half lead and then equalised after goals from Dave Edwards and Rajiv van La Parra had turned an action-packed replay on its head.
Edwards netted again in extra time but McCormack rescued the visitors and scored from the spot again in the shoot-out.
Woodrow, Kostas Stafylidis and Whites youngster Patrick Roberts also converted their penalties, Doherty fired wide with his team’s second attempt, and Rodallega made no mistake when he had the chance to take Fulham through.
Woodrow’s fine 27th-minute header from Stafylidis’ left-wing cross was Fulham’s first goal since he scored at Sheffield Wednesday on 20 December.
Kit Symons’ side dominated the first half and could have been further ahead at the break – Moussa Dembele missed a sitter when he rounded the keeper after being set up by McCormack but then shot wide.
Wolves were much improved after the restart, with half-time substitutes Edwards and Nouha Dicko making a major impact.
Doherty and Dicko both hit the woodwork before two goals in as many minutes saw the hosts go in front.
Edwards tucked away Dominic Iorfa’s low cross and Van La Parra lobbed keeper Marcus Bettinelli after being set up by Kevin McDonald.
But Woodrow hit back for Fulham only three minutes later, poking home from close range after keeper Carl Ikeme’s fumble.
Edwards’ near-post finish from Danny Batth’s cross in the 110th minute looked like being the winner, but Richard Stearman’s handball gave Fulham a lifeline and the resulting penalty by McCormack was all-important.
Edwards and Lee Evans scored for Wolves in the shoot-out but Doherty’s miss meant Leon Clarke had to convert their fourth to keep them in the competition.
He did so but it was only a temporary reprieve because Rodallega then belted his kick into the top corner.
