Latest: Swansea City 0 QPR 0 – Rangers within sight of first away point
QPR goalkeeper Rob Green has produced a number of fine saves at the Liberty Stadium to leave his team within sight of their first away point of the season.
He was off his line quickly to deny former Rangers man Wayne Routledge and did well to tip away Kyle Bartley’s header.
Green was less convincing when he misjudged Gylfi Sigurdsson’s tame effort and the ball trickled narrowly wide of the target.
But he redeemed himself six minutes before the break by diving to his left to brilliantly claw out Sigurdsson’s free-kick.
At the other end, Niko Kranjcar curled a free-kick over the bar and Leroy Fer was unable to apply the finishing touch to a free-kick from Joey Barton.
Fer later had Rangers’ best chance of the half but his header from Kranjcar’s cross was saved by keeper Łukasz Fabiański.
And as the visitors finished the half strongly, the dangerous Eduardo Vargas fired wide.
Green was called into action again after the restart, twice denying Wilfried Bony, first by saving from the Ivorian after he had been set up by Routledge and then keeping out his volley.
Richard Dunne, available again after suspension, returned to the QPR side, with Nedum Onuoha moving to right-back and Mauricio Isla dropping to the bench.
Kranjcar kept his place, while Bobby Zamora is still out.
QPR: Green, Onuoha, Caulker, Dunne, Yun, Vargas, Barton, Henry, Fer, Kranjcar, Austin.
Subs: McCarthy, Ferdinand, Isla, Mutch, Phillips, Hoilett, Zamora.
