Defiant Magath insists Fulham can stay up

Fulham manager Felix Magath insisted his struggling side can still avoid relegation despite suffering yet another home defeat.

The Whites were beaten 3-1 by Everton – their 11th loss at Craven Cottage this season – and they remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League, five points adrift of safety with only six games left.

Magath, who has just one win from his six games in charge, believes they now need four victories from their remaining games to survive.

He said: “It was a very important game today and the result is very, very disappointing. But if you have seen the game and how we played it gives you another view.

“I think it was our best game until now and we created a lot of chances. Everybody played well and if we did that today then we can do it next week again.

“I think we need four victories and there is enough games. I know that we can still make it happen. There was no team that should be relegated playing out there today. We played better than a relegated team.”

Fulham looked to be heading for a vital point when substitute Ashkan Dejagah fired in a vicious second-half equaliser, but instead they crumbled and conceded two late goals.
