Patience could be the key for Chelsea against Pulis’ Palace

Chelsea are at Selhurst Park on Saturday to meet a Crystal Palace side who have improved under Tony Pulis but remain 6/5 for the drop.

Whilst the hosts find scoring goals difficult (19 in 30 league games) they have conceded fewer home goals than Tottenham and the same as reigning champions Manchester United. Patience might therefore be the key for the Blues.

John Terry and the rest of the back four will want a fifth successive clean sheet; Chelsea to win to nil is priced at 11/10 with BetVictor and that might be the call with Jose Mourinho’s side 2/5 for the win with Palace 9/1 and the draw 7/2.

Chelsea are out to 5/2 for the Premier League title despite thumping Arsenal 6-0 at the Bridge at the weekend, as City were the movers, beating Fulham at the Etihad and then causing further embarrassment to Manchester United in midweek.

When Mourinho went to Old Trafford at the beginning of the season he was lauded for a job well done when he came away with a goalless draw.

Hindsight is great but, knowing then what he does now, I wonder if he would have been quite as happy with a point?

Let’s hope it doesn’t come back to haunt them with title rivals City (10/11) and Liverpool (3/1) both having emphatic recent wins at United.

PSG are a shade of odds- against (21/20) for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg in Paris, with Chelsea 13/5 and the draw at 12/5.

We can’t split the sides at 10/11 to win the tie although in the outright market our traders prefer PSG at 12s with Chelsea 14/1 to lift the trophy in Lisbon in May.
