Toms eyes title shot after changing trainer
Ryan Toms hopes sparring with James DeGale and changing trainer will help him secure a shot at the British title.
The Northolt light-middleweight, who has twice been southern area champion, beat Dee Mitchell on points at the weekend in his first fight since linking up with trainer Ciaran Duffy.
And Toms, 32, believes he can now take his career to another level.
“We’ve only been working together three weeks so give us three months and we’ll see what I’m like then,” he said.
“I decided to make a change and got in touch with Ciaran, who has been working me really hard, and I’ve sparred with James DeGale.
“I want to fight for the British title. I feel like I can mix it at that level, especially have been working with DeGale.”
