Chelsea said to be battling with Arsenal to sign Marseille star
Chelsea are looking to beat Arsenal to the signing of Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula, The Express say.
Imbula, 21 and apparently rated at £25m, was previously linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and it is claimed that Chelsea continue to monitor him.
Chelsea have again been linked with another Marseille midfielder, Florian Thauvin.
The Blues were recently said to be keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, who has been touted as one of France’s best prospects.
And French radio station RMC say both Chelsea and Tottenham have sent scouts to watch him in action.
Spurs are interested in young Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford, according to Metro, who also claim Chelsea have been given a boost in their apparent pursuit of striker Edinson Cavani.
It comes after his representative Francois Gallardo appeared to suggest that Cavani wants to leave Paris St-Germain.
“There is a player of the squad at PSG who is not comfortable and wants to leave called Cavani,” Gallardo is quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, there continues to be speculation that Southampton’s Luke Shaw could join Manchester United in the summer rather than Chelsea.
And Charlton are interested in a loan deal for Fulham’s Derek Boateng, according to reports in the midfielder’s native Ghana.
