Mourinho confident of sealing Salah deal
Jose Mourinho is confident Chelsea will complete the signing of Mohamed Salah but has admitted that the Egyptian could yet join Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers is also keen to sign the 21-year-old and the Liverpool manager appeared to suggest it was not a forgone conclusion that Salah will move to Stamford Bridge despite a deal being agreed with Basel.
“I say maybe he’s right. I don’t know what Liverpool did before us,” said Blues boss Mourinho.
“I am confident. But we have an agreement with Basel and that agreement only goes forward when there is an agreement with the player. Now it is terms and a medical he has to pass.
“But I know he wants to come. I asked him and he told me. We know he is pleased we have an agreement with his club.
“Hopefully he comes, but probably the situation is open – or not closed.”
Salah is due to undergo a medical over the weekend and Chelsea expect his move to be rubber-stamped in the coming days.
