Rangers reported to have missed out on Doncaster midfielder
Richie Wellens turned down a move to QPR before signing a new contract at Doncaster, the Yorkshire Post says.
Having impressed for Rovers against Harry Redknapp’s side, and with his short-term deal about to expire, the 33-year-old midfielder was reported to be ready to move to Loftus Road.
He subsequently signed an 18-month contract at Doncaster and it is claimed he rejected a six-month deal offered by Rangers.
“I had one definite other option. But I wanted an 18-month contract,” Wellens told the Post.
“When you get to 33, people are more bothered about how old you are than what you do on the pitch.
“You speak to a lot of managers and they say: ‘If you were 28, we’d sign you’.”
