Curbishley joins Fulham coaching staff

Fulham have appointed Alan Curbishley as first team technical director.

The 56-year-old former Charlton and West Ham boss will work alongside Whites’ head coach Rene Meulensteen in his first role in football since 2008.

Meulensteen said he supported the idea of ‘additional support within the coaching team’.

The Dutchman added: “I’m very happy that Alan has joined us as I know his expertise will be invaluable as we enter the remaining months of the season.

“Alan has a proven track record in the industry and understands full well what it takes to succeed.

“I look forward to sharing ideas and listening to advice, to ensure Fulham Football Club remains where it belongs: in the Premier League.”

Fulham have also confirmed the loan signing of former striker Clint Dempsey from Seattle Sounders.

The 30-year-old, who left Craven Cottage in the summer of 2012 for a season at Tottenham, will be with the club for two months during the MLS off-season.
