Liverpool v Fulham player ratings

Fulham’s woeful defending was evident again as they went down 4-0 at Anfield. Here’s how we rated the players in their latest defeat.

Maarten Stekelenburg: 6
There was little the Dutchman could do about Liverpool’s first-half goals but he was beaten disappointingly at his near post by Luis Suarez for the fourth. However, he made some fine saves in the second half to stop the scoreline getting worse.

Elsad Zverotic: 5
Zverotic worked hard in place of the suspended Sascha Riether for the first of three matches but, along with the rest of the Fulham back four, he had trouble coping with Liverpool’s attacking play.

Fernando Amorebieta: 4
The summer signing was very poor. He headed into his own net to gift Liverpool the lead and then failed to deal with Martin Skrtel as he headed in a second three minutes later. Was given a torrid afternoon by the movement of Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Philippe Senderos: 5
Senderos also had a massively difficult game, struggling to cope with the movement of Suarez and Sturridge too.

Kieran Richardson: 6
The left-back was the most assured of Fulham’s defenders and Liverpool were less effective from the right-hand side, but he was still part of a poor defensive unit.

Ashkan Dejagah: 6
Fulham had a bright start to the match and looked dangerous on the break, with Dejagah lively in his second successive start after his return from injury. But he rarely threatened after that, with the Whites reluctant to get forward in the second half.

Scott Parker: 6
Typically, Parker worked tirelessly all afternoon. But he couldn’t keep up with Liverpool’s midfield pack of Steven Gerrard, Coutinho and Jordan Henderson.

Steve Sidwell: 6
Like his midfield partner Parker, Sidwell was given the runaround by Liverpool’s midfield and although the pair stemmed the tide somewhat in the second half they were ultimately no match for the Reds.

Alex Kacaniklic: 5
Kacaniklic was part of Fulham’s dangerous counter-attacks early in the game but became non-existent as soon as the Whites fell behind and was substituted at half-time.

Pajtim Kasami: 5
Kasami had an early chance to put Fulham ahead, hitting a deflected shot into the side-netting and he looked lively but was made to defend for the majority of the game and didn’t threaten again.

Dimitar Berbatov: 6
Kept out of the game by Liverpool’s defence. He worked hard trying to hold the ball up for his team but he was ultimately substituted in the second half. Defending from the front is certainly not his strong point.

Bryan Ruiz: 6
Was also made to defend for almost the entire second half after replacing Kacaniklic at half-time and clearly didn’t enjoy himself.

Aaron Hughes: 6
Introduced for Zverotic in the second half as under-fire manager Martin Jol looked to prevent further humiliation. Hughes did a solid job.
