Leicester v Fulham player ratings
A Capital One Cup exit at the hands of Championship opposition did nothing to ease the pressure on Fulham manager Martin Jol. Here’s how we rated his players in their 4-3 defeat at Leicester.
Maarten Stekelenburg: 6
Made two good saves to keep Fulham in the game but was guilty of a bad mistake for Leicester’s first goal, which came after he failed to hold a free-kick.
Elsad Zverotic: 6
Had problems dealing with Leicester’s dangerous left flank but did get forward well at times though and served up a great cross for Hugo Rodallega’s second goal.
Philippe Senderos: 5
A poor all-round display from the much maligned Senderos. He simply wasn’t trustworthy enough at the back, not least when causing a defensive mix-up which led to Leicester’s second goal. He might also have cut out the cross that set up the Foxes’ late winner.
Aaron Hughes: 6
Caught flat footed in the build-up to that winner and had some uncertain moments, but also produced some important challenges to keep Leicester at bay and show he remains a decent option at the back.
John Arne Riise: 5
Started well enough but faded as the game wore on.
Damien Duff: 6
Unlucky to be involved the mix-up which gifted Leicester their second goal and had a frustrating night before being replaced early in the second half.
Derek Boateng: 5
Has ability, but lost the midfield battle and Leicester were able to play around him far too easily.
Giorgos Karagounis: 7
The veteran midfielder also had a tough night but proved he has something left, setting up the opener and hauling Fulham level with a blistering late free-kick.
Alex Kacaniklic: 6
Neat and tidy on the ball without really causing Leicester major problems. Can do better.
Adel Taarabt: 6
This was a chance for Taarabt to impress and build up his fitness. He showed glimpses of his ability but ought to have produced more against second-tier opposition.
Hugo Rodallega: 7
As well as his two goals – the second of which was a fine header – Rodallega did well, causing Leicester problems with his movement and giving Fulham some directness up front.
Bryan Ruiz: 7
Offered some attacking impetus when he came on and would have scored but for a fine save.
Darren Bent: 6
Also freshened things up when he came on and gave a tiring defence some problems as Fulham fought back.
