Woe for Jol as late goal sends Fulham out
Leicester 4 Fulham 3
Lloyd Dyer’s last-minute winner sent Fulham out of the Capital One Cup after they had battled back from 3-1 down.
Hugo Rodallega scored his second goal of the game before Giorgos Karagounis equalised with a cracking 87th-minute free-kick that looked like forcing extra time.
But Dyer’s goal meant the Championship side prevailed – and heaped more pressure on Fulham boss Martin Jol.
The Whites went ahead in the 18th minute, when Rodallega beat the offside trap and side-footed in after being found by Karagounis.
But two goals in the final five minutes of the first half meant Leicester led at the break.
Wes Morgan headed them level after pouncing on an error by keeper Maarten Stekelenburg, who failed to hold Anthony Knockaert’s free-kick.
And Chris Wood was allowed to run though and score after being played in by former Fulham man Paul Konchesky.
Worse followed for Fulham seven minutes after the restart, with Ignasi Miquel meeting Danny Drinkwater’s cross with a firm header to seemingly put the hosts in total control.
However, Fulham hit back with a similar goal almost immediately when an unmarked Rodallega netted from Elsad Zverotic’s cross.
Karagounis then levelled, only for Dyer to fire home the winner after being teed up by David Nugent.
