Eagles look to bounce back after defeats
Ruislip Eagles men’s and women’s team both suffered away defeats at the weekend.
The men’s team lost 28-23 against unbeaten Newham Flames in the London Handball League after finding themselves nine goals behind following a series of missed chances.
Their fightback came too late and manager Chris Powell admitted: “We fought hard, but we made some silly mistakes and Newham punished us.
“We missed a few chances, lost our concentration at the beginning of the second half and let them get too far ahead.”
Team: Bruce Davies (GK) – Val Georgita (7 goals), Gil Lewis (6), Marc Fayemi (5), Oli Barton (2), Nish Ramanabalan (1), Chris Powell (1), Steve Cornwall (1), Patrik Csepely.
The women’s side, meanwhile, were beaten 29-11 by east London outfit Olympia II in the London Regional League.
Olympia took the lead early on and Ruislip struggled to keep up with their dynamic and fast playing style.
Eagles coach Judit Cross said: “We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I’m happy with the way the team showed real spirit and fought until the end, despite the score.”
