Chelsea and QPR should have far too much for Cardiff and Millwall
Chelsea really should be too strong for Cardiff City and are long odds on at 1/4 to maintain their excellent recent record at the Bridge in the Premier League.
They have scored twice in their last eight home league games and are 13/2 at BetVictor to win 2-0.
It is well-documented that the Blues are one of two sides in the division (Stoke are the other) for whom a striker hasn’t scored a league goal.
So, with doubts surrounding the fitness of Fernando Torres, perhaps Samuel Eto’o (22/5) or Demba Ba (9/2) can open the scoring.
Chelsea are 11/8 to beat Schalke in Germany on Tuesday night in the Champions League with the hosts 2/1 and the draw at 5/2.
After the Basel debacle, normal service was resumed in Bucharest and I expect Chelsea to return home with all three points.
QPR, meanwhile, look a big price at evens to beat Millwall at The Den, with the hosts 16/5 and the draw at 5/2 at BetVictor.
Harry Redknapp’s side are 85/40 to win to nil and that has been popular as Robert Green and his back four continue to be nigh-on impenetrable in the Championship.
We still believe Rangers are the outstanding side in the Championship.
Charlie Austin is 11/2 to be the league’s top goalscorer with Jordan Rhodes 5/2 favourite.
The R’s hitman is 4/1 to grab Saturday’s opening goal and 13/10 to find the back of the net at any time during the 90 minutes.
Incidentally, England’s midweek victory caused just a ripple in the World Cup market with the Three Lions still 20/1 (from 25s) for the tournament.
Ashley Cole missed out through injury but who do you think will start England’s opening World Cup game at left-back out of the Chelsea man and Leighton Baines?
We can’t split them and bet 10/11 each of two and 16s bar the pair.
