Concern for McAleny after horror injury
Uwe Rosler spoke of his shock after seeing Conor McAleny suffer what the Brentford manager described as “a very, very nasty” injury against Walsall.
The on-loan Everton youngster was stretchered off after nine minutes of the Bees’ 1-0 victory and was clearly in some distress.
Rosler refused to give any details on the nature of the injury, but said: “It is very, very nasty. We were all shocked. I was speechless.
“I feel for the lad. He is a very promising player and a very good character.
“We will give him all the support we can and hopefully he will come back soon.”
McAleny was on the receiving end of a crunching tackle from Walsall’s Adam Chambers.
The defender won the ball and Rosler does not think there was any malicious intent.
Rosler said: “Conor was coming in from the side and he wanted to shoot.
“Things like this can happen in football. I don’t think the player went for him.”
Meanwhile, Rosler said Brentford’s summer signing Will Grigg missed the game against the striker’s former club because of a hamstring injury.
