McAleny scores twice on Bees debut
Conor McAleny scored twice on his debut and Paul Hayes bagged an 88th-minute winner for Brentford as they came back from two down to beat Premier League side Cardiff 3-2 in a pre-season friendly at Griffin Park.
On-loan Everton striker McAleny pulled one back just before half-time after Cardiff had raced into a two-goal lead with early goals from Kim Bo-Kyung and Frazier Campbell.
And McAlney curled in an excellent finish just after the break before Hayes tapped home late on.
Goalkeeper David Button, signed from Charlton earlier in the day, also made his Bees debut after being recruited in the wake of Simon Moore’s move to Cardiff.
Moore did not feature for his new team, while his former side were boosted by the return of Harlee Dean after an injury.
Brentford (4-3-3): Button (Bonham 61); Logan, Dean, O’Connor (Reeves 71), Bidwell (Venta 61); Forshaw (Fillo 71), McCormack, Saville (Diagouraga 61); Donaldson (Dallas 80), Grigg (Hayes 71), McAleny (Saunders 61).
