Two goals for Berbatov in Costa Rica

Dimitar Berbatov scored twice as Fulham began their pre-season trip to Costa Rica by beating CS Cartaginés 3-0.

Costa Rican native Bryan Ruiz also found the net for the Whites, who gave debuts to new signings Maarten Stekelenburg, Derek Boateng, Fernando Amorebieta and Chris David – all of whom featured in the second half.

Keeper Stekelenburg made one excellent save, but Fulham controlled most of the match.

They went ahead when Pajtim Kasami set up Berbatov, who doubled the lead with a 40th-minute penalty after John Arne Riise was fouled in the box.

Ruiz tapped in the third on 72 minutes and Hugo Rodallega almost added a fourth for Martin Jol’s side.
