Half-time: Bees 2 Swindon 1 (Agg: 3-2)

Brentford are 45 minutes away from Wembley after a scintillating first half in their play-off semi-final second-leg.

The Bees were firmly on the front foot for large chunks of the first half and got their due reward on 23 minutes when Swindon’s Adam Rooney got the last touch on a Harry Forrester corner.

In the minutes after the goal, a dynamic Brentford penned Swindon back in their own half and created a series of chances to deliver a second blow.

Forrester, a constant thorn in the visitors’ side, saw a firm shot from an acute angle beaten away by Swindon keeper Wes Foderingham.

The recalled Marcello Trotta, whose named was booed by a minority of home fans following his penalty miss against Doncaster, then saw an effort hit the base of the near post.

Clayton Donaldson then brought the roof off a vibrant Griffin Park with a low shot from 20 yards which crept into the corner to put the Bees in command.

However, Swindon pulled one back before the break, Rooney drilling home from inside the box, to bring anxiety to the stands once more.

As well as bringing back Trotta, Bees boss Uwe Rosler made three further changes from the first leg, with Tony Craig, Toumani Diagouraga and Forrester in for Kevin O’Connor,  Lee Hodson and Bradley Wright-Phillips.

The winners of this tie will meet Yeovil Town at Wembley.

Brentford (4-1-2-3) Moore; Logan, Dean, Craig, Bidwell; Diagouraga; Adeyemi, Forshaw; Donaldson, Trotta, Forrester.
Subs: Gounet, O’Connor, Saunders, Douglas, Wright-Phillips, Hodson, Hayes.
