Injured Harris will miss Surrey match
Middlesex bowler James Harris has been ruled out of this week’s County Championship match with Surrey at Lord’s.
The close-season signing has been told to rest for two weeks after failing to shake off a hamstring injury sustained during the victory at Nottinghamshire last month.
Isleworth-born bowler Gurjit Sandhu, named 12th man for the first two Championship matches, is also out of the squad after tearing his hamstring playing for a Middlesex XI against Cambridge MCCU last week. He is expected to miss the next six weeks.
They join second XI bowlers Ravi Patel (broken wrist) and Ollie Wilkin (side strain) on the sidelines.
Harris, who had missed the win over Derbyshire, was fit enough to take four wickets against Cambridge MCCU, but suffered more discomfort in a 40-over game on Sunday.
His absence, and the availability of England bowler Steven Finn, means Middlesex are likely to be unchanged for the Surrey match, which starts on Thursday.
Patel, from Harrow, who played in three Championship games last season, has undergone an operation on his wrist and will be out for two months.
Wilkin injured his side playing club cricket for Ealing at the weekend and is likely to be fit again in two weeks.
